John Edwin Ulrich, 80, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. He was born in Brookline, son of the late John F. Ulrich and Dorothy (O’Donnell) Morrissey. John was raised in Roslindale and graduated from Boston Tech High School. He also earned his Associate Degree from Northeastern University. John served in the U.S. Army and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant after receiving the Purple Heart. John then served in the Boston Police Department and retired as a Detective. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Beloved husband of Cynthia Gilmore-Ulrich, father of Scott Ulrich and his wife Jaime of Florida, David Ulrich and his wife Jenette of Georgia, Gregory Ulrich of Middleboro, Joseph Ulrich and his wife Allison of Stoughton and the late Ryan Ulrich, grandfather of Caroline, Christopher, Luke, Peter, Victoria, Catherine, Nolan, Nadia, Nathan and Lilly Ulrich, brother of Mary Ann Ulrich of Winthrop.
Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Sunday, December 21 from 2-4 PM. Funeral will take place from the funeral home on Monday, December 22 at 11 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 12 PM. Interment will follow at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations in John‘s memory may be made to the DAV – Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301 or www.ihelpveterans.org.
