Jorge C. DeSousa, 61, died unexpectedly July 15, 2013 at the St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Brighton. He was the husband of Elsa (Pimental) Sousa of Stoughton. Born in Santa Cruz, Flores, Azores, Portugal, he was raised and educated in Santa Cruz. He was a member of the Portuguese Navy for 12 years. Mr. DeSousa came to the United States in 1998 and settled in Stoughton. He worked as a Machine Operator for Qual-Craft in Stoughton for several years. He was a member of Club Luis de Camoes and the Filharmonic Society of San Joao in Stoughton for several years. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening and soccer.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Graca Sousa of Portugal and his son, Tyler Sousa of Stoughton. He was the son of Catarina (Nunes) Sousa of Stoughton and the late Joao Sousa. Mr. Sousa was the brother of Joao Sousa of Portugal, Jay Sousa of NH, Leopoldo Sousa of Florida, Rosa Sousa Lopes of Easton, Antonio Sousa, Fatima Sousa and Teresa Sousa all of Stoughton and Mario Sousa of West Bridgewater. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Friday, July 19 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
