Jose M. Carvalho, 77, died at the Boston Medical Center South in Brockton, after a period of failing health. Born, raised and educated in Santa Cruz, on the island of Flores, in the Azores, Portugal, he was a Veteran of the Portuguese Army and served in Guinea for over 4 years. He came to the United States over 31 years and settled in Stoughton. Known as Joe to family and friends, worked at the Copley Nursing Home in Stoughton for over 19 years and retired over 12 years ago. He loved to travel and had fond memories of his trips to California and back to the island of his birth, Flores in Portugal. In his free time, he enjoyed watching TV and playing Sueca at the Portuguese National Club and Club Luis Camoes, both in Stoughton.
Joe is survived by his two children, William Carvalho and Gina Carvalho, both of CA and his sisters, Maria de Fatima Henriques of Portugal and Maria Lourdes America, with whom he lived, of Stoughton. He is also survived by many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Monday, August 24, 2026, from 9-10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at the Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 11 AM. Burial will follow at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
