Jose A. Dias

Jose Alfredo Dias, Sr., 76, of South Easton, previously of Stoughton, passed peacefully at home on November 15, 2022.  Jose was born in Flores, Acores, Portugal before immigrating to the United States. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Maria Fatima, his parents Alfredo and Isabel and three sisters.

Jose worked for the Cumberland Farms Factory before retiring from Stop and Shop at age 65.  He had a family farm which was his livelihood.  His farm over the years frequently housed roosters, rabbits, chickens, guinea hens, pigeons, turkeys, sheep, goats and even at times a cow.  He was happiest when taking care of his animals and could frequently be found out back working.  If he was not with his farm animals, he was often found relaxing in his recliner with one of his 3 dogs – Mia, Lulu or Brady in his lap or his cat Halo watching TV.  He loved his Portuguese heritage and was a frequent participant in the feast celebrations, always donating to the church or cause being supported.  He loved old Westerns, country and farm life, auctions and feasts and above all else, his family.

Jose is survived by his two siblings in Portugal, Tony and Isabel, his 5 children Jose, Jr. “Joe” and his wife Corrina, Antonio “Tony” and his wife Sandra, Maria, Alfredo “Al” and his wife Jodie and Marie Adelina.  He was the proud Vovo of 12 grandchildren, Jonathan, Ashley, Alex, Brandon, Cody, Joey, Lily, Austin, Juliauna, Tyler, Emma and Savannah and his great granddaughter Brylee “papo seco”, his mother-in-law and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, November 23 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM.  Visiting Hours Tuesday from 4-7 PM.  Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Jose‘s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (www.stjude.org) or by calling 800-608-3023.
