Jose E. Salazar, 85, died peacefully on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at his home in Stoughton, surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised on the island of Faial in the Azores, he came to the U.S. in 1959 and settled in Stoughton. While living in Portugal, he served in the Portuguese Army and also worked as a professional fisherman and whaler. In 1964, he married Doris M. Cooper and together they raised 4 beloved children and shared over 57 years of marriage. He worked as a mechanical welder for many years for Taunton Engineering in Taunton and earlier for JC Corrigan in Dorchester. After his retirement in 2000, he worked part time for Alcoa in Stoughton. In his free time, he enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden and fishing. Jose loved being social, telling stories about the old days and laughing. He also loved a good glass of wine, attending Portuguese feasts, music and especially dancing with his wife. Of course, his happiest moments were spent with his loving family.
