Jose C. Silva

Jose C. Silva, age 81, passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital on Friday, August 27, 2021. Born in Santa Cruz, Flores, Azores, he was the son of the late Julia (Costa) and Urbano Pedro Silva. He was the beloved husband of Maria G. (Jorge) Silva for 61 beautiful years. They were childhood sweethearts and came to America in January of 1971 with their 4 children, where he came to make a life and worked 2 jobs to support his family. He was the dear father of Lucia Freitas and her husband Jose of Somerville, Joseph L. Silva of Stoughton, Vera M. Coughlan and her husband Joseph of Dighton and the late Licerio J. Silva. He was the brother of Florinda Medina and her late husband Jose of Taunton, Mario Silva and his wife Maria Olivia Silva of Taunton and Almerio Silva and his wife Fatima of Flores and was predeceased by his siblings Adelino Silva and his wife Maria Jose Silva, Maria Almerinda Sousa and her husband Jose, and Urbano Silva all of the Azores. He was the grandfather of Kevin Silva, Diana Silva, Victor Freitas, Jessica Ventura and her husband Danny, Mark Freitas, Dylan Silva, Julia Silva, Courtney Brown and her husband Tim and the late David Freitas, and was the great grandfather to Bella Silva.

Jose loved the outdoors and going to the beach in Newport with his family. He enjoyed fishing and especially loved a shady spot under the grapevine. Most of all he loved being at home with his family, and getting them all together to spend time with one another. He was a devoted and hardworking father and husband, and it showed throughout his life in raising his family and providing for his children. To know Jose was an honor, and he truly touched the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Visitation will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, September 1 from 9:30-11 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 11:30 AM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
