Joseph J. Abreu, 91, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021 after a period of declining health. Born in Stoughton, son of the late Joseph J. and Conceicao (Jardin) Abreu, he was a longtime resident of Stoughton and a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1948. Joe proudly served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany as a Military Police Officer.
For many years, Joe worked as a Tile Setter. He later worked at the Stoughton Housing Authority as a Maintenance Man for many years, retiring at age 65. He was a member of the Stoughton VFW and the Portuguese National Club in Stoughton. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his buddies at the corner store, playing cards with family and friends, traveling to Foxwoods and cooking. He was known for his delicious soups and also for his tile clocks, which were his specialty.
Joe was the beloved brother of Nancy Abreu of Easton, formerly of Stoughton, Emily Martins of Foxboro and the late Mary Alves and Margaret Giannelli. He was a loving uncle and great uncle to his many nieces and nephews.
A Visiting Hour will be held prior to the prayers from 10-11AM. Funeral Prayers will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday at 11AM.
