Joseph Araujo, Jr., 90, a resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at Forge Hill Assisted Living in Franklin on Friday March 27th. He was the husband of the late Alice (Cataldo) Araujo. Son of the late Joseph and Augusta (Sardinha) Araujo, he was born and raised in New Bedford. Mr. Araujo was a resident of Stoughton for over 50 years. He honorably served in the U.S. Navy from 1948-1952. Joe continued to serve his community as a member of the Stoughton Fire Department and retired as a Lieutenant. He was an avid golfer and was on the board of directors at Cedar Hill Golf Course. In his free time Joe enjoyed dancing, watching football, rooting for Boston College and spending time with his family and friends.
Joe is survived by his daughter Darlene Dehman and her husband Peter of Wrentham. He was the brother of the late Dorothy and Martin Glaettli. He was the uncle of Barbara and Terangi Baumgartner of Switzerland.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, funeral services for Joe will be private and interment will take place at Milton Cemetery, Milton. Donations in Joe's memory may be made to National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, P.O. Drawer 498, Emmitsburg, MD 21727.
