Joseph R. Cleary, Sr., born December 25, 1929, age 91, passed away on December 7, 2021 at Good Samaritan Medical Center. He was the son of the late Florence (Miller) and James Cleary. He was the beloved husband to Mary N. (Jardin) Cleary for over 70 years. He served in the US Army as a Korean War Veteran. He worked as a Millwright at a control valve company, Masoneilan for over 30 years, putting in hard work and exhibiting his skill in the trade. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved the outdoors, and was an avid gardener in his spare time. His most precious and cherished time was especially when he was spending time with his family.
Joseph is survived by his children Patricia N. Cleary of Brockton, Diane M. Colson and her Husband Richard Colson Jr. of Stoughton, Joseph R. Cleary Jr. and his wife Cherie of Franklin and Daniel E. Cleary and his wife Heidi of Barnstable. He was the brother to James Cleary of Canton, and was predeceased by his siblings Beatrice Wentworth, Rita Cooper, Evelyn Gilligan, Florence O'Donnell, John Cleary, Phillip Cleary, Paul Cleary, Raymond Cleary and Ronald Cleary. He was also the grandfather to 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, December 16th at 9:30 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday from 5-7 PM. Interment will take place at Dry Pond Cemetery, Bay Road in Stoughton.
