Joseph "Joe De" DeAndrade, 90, a lifelong dedicated resident of Stoughton, died Sunday, November 27, 2022 at the AccentCare Hospice Center in Milton, after a long period of declining health. He was the loving son of the late Antonio and Celeste (Gonsalves) DeAndrade. Devoted husband of the late Roberta (Hennessey) DeAndrade, together they shared over 50 loving years of marriage. Joe was a graduate of Stoughton Schools, Class of 1950 and earned his Bachelors Degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology. He was a proud veteran of the US Navy, serving from 1951-1955 and upon his Honorable Discharge, he returned home to Stoughton and started a business that specialized in electronics and radio, skills he learned in the Navy. Joe and his wife Roberta, were both dedicated to civic service. Joe was a faithful and active member of the Knights of Columbus in Stoughton, serving as a Past Grand Knight, Past Chairman of the Board, and operating out of “Joe De’s Office” as the Manager of the Members Club. He was a proud member of the Portuguese National Club. Joe served as a Town Meeting Representative for many years and as a Selectman from 1973-1977 and served as Chairman in 1978. He was a longtime communicant of Immaculate Conception Church, and active golfer and was a longtime member of the Board of Directors at the Cedar Hill Golf Club in Stoughton. Joe was a dog lover who enjoyed talking politics and cherished his many golf excursions, trips to Las Vegas and cheering on the New England Patriots and Boston College Eagles Football teams.
Joe will be missed by many, but especially, Brenda L. Sjoquist of Bridgewater, formerly of Stoughton and Kenneth J. Lessa and his wife Lisa of Stoughton. He was the beloved “Honorary Grandfather” of Julia and Alex Sjoquist, Jonathon, Morgan and Mason Lessa and the late Bradley Lessa. He was the brother of the late Laura DeAndrade. He is also survived by dear cousins, friends and his Knights of Columbus family.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, Dec. 2, from 9-10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 11 AM. Donations in Joe’s memory may be made to the Knights of Columbus, Council 200, 14 Seaver St., Stoughton, 02072.
