Joseph M. Ennis, Jr., 65, died Monday, December 22, 2025, after being stricken ill at his home in Stoughton. Born in Boston, son of the late Joseph M. Ennis and Margaret (Gibson) Ennis, he was a lifelong resident of Stoughton and a graduate of Stoughton Schools. Joe worked as a self employed carpenter in the area for many years and was known for his skill and attention to details and had many loyal clients. He also had a passion for boxing and was the owner of Box A Round Gym in Stoughton for several years. Joe loved the sport and teaching boxing to new fighters. He also loved all sports, especially hockey and enjoyed attending his children’s games. Joe could often be found on his Harley Davidson cruising through the state. In his free time, he enjoyed being surrounded by his family and his friends.
Joe is survived by his two children, Nicholas J. Ennis and his wife Celeen of Guam and Nina Cherie Cahill and her husband Patrick of Marshfield. He was the brother of Michelle Sweezey of Easton, Elizabeth “Betsy” Gorman of Pembroke and Marcia McCloud of West Bridgewater. He is also survived by his grandson Oliver Cahill, as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, and his good friend Marie.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Friday, January 2, 2026 from 10 AM - 12 PM with Funeral Prayers to follow at Noon. Donations in Joe’s memory may be made to the MSPCA at https://support.mspca.org/
