Karen M. (McShea) Place, 69, a resident of Wareham, died peacefully at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston on Thursday, January 7, 2021 after a brief illness. She was the wife of Frank T. Place for 51 years. Daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Cronin) McShea, she was born in Winchester and raised in Medford and Stoughton. Karen was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1969. She resided in Stoughton for over 40 years before moving to Wareham 15 years ago. Karen was exceptionally talented and creative in the arts. She loved the beach but her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Karen is survived by her children, Robert A. Place and his fiancé Kathy Rose of Kingston and Julie A. Place of Scituate as well as her grandchildren, Caroline, Ava and John Place. She was the sister of Andrew McShea, Thomas McShea, Maureen Piccarelli and Jean McShea all of Wareham and John McShea of Canton. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
