Kathleen A. (Reid) Drago, 73, died Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at the Southeast Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Easton, after a long illness. She was the wife of the late SGT MAJ Ronald A. Drago, USMC (Ret). Born in Boston, daughter of the late George C. Reid and Joan (Riley) Mulkay, she was raised and educated in Stoughton and was a graduate of Stoughton High School. She was also a graduate of Catherine Laboure Nursing School in Dorchester. Kathleen worked as a Registered Nurse at the Brockton Hospital for over 10 years and later at several area nursing homes. She retired in 2000. After her retirement, for many years, Kathleen and Ron enjoyed traveling through the United States in their motor home, visiting family and sightseeing. A member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary in Stoughton, Kathleen enjoyed knitting, crocheting and playing bingo, but her greatest joy was being surrounded by her beloved family and friends.
Kathleen was the mother of Robin L. McKeon of RI, Laura Faherty of Southbridge and the late Melissa L. McHugh and Dawnmarie Surdam. She is survived by 5 grandchildren, David G. Bryer of Carver, Jennifer Kathleen Allen of West Warwick, RI, Kathleen Ann Rogers of Scituate, RI, Justin Patrick Brown of Weymouth and John M McKeon, Jr. Of Voluntown, CT. She is also survived by 3 great grandchildren, 4 brothers and sisters and, in addition to her husband, was predeceased by 1 sister and 1 grandson.
Private family services were held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Donations in Kathleen’s memory may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Grand Central Station P.O. Box 4777, New York, NY 10163.
