Kevin P. Benson

Kevin P. Benson, age 80, a resident of Bridgewater, formerly of Stoughton, died peacefully at Sachem Nursing Home in Bridgewater on Thursday, January 26, 2023.  He was the husband of the late Janet M. (Norris) Benson.  Born in Tewksbury, he was the son of the late Aubrey C. and Anna (Flynn) MacFarlane and was raised in Brookline.  He was a graduate of Brookline High School, Class of 1960.  Kevin was a Shipfitter Petty Officer 3^rd Class in the U.S. Navy and a Veteran of the Vietnam War.  He was a mechanic with the Boston Globe and Wilson Tisdale for 30 years before retiring in 2002.  He enjoyed collecting stamps and coins, playing golf and camping, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Kevin is survived by his children, Kimberly A. Benson and her longtime partner Richard “Dickie” Painten of Taunton, Kelli T. Mitchell of Bridgewater and Kevin C. “Kip” Benson and his wife Amy of Bridgewater, as well as his grandchildren, Dylan Mitchell, Kian Mitchell, Ella Benson, and Anna Benson.  He was the brother of the late Maureen Gibbons and Stephen MacFarlane and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Prayers will be offered from Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park Street (Rt. 27), Stoughton on Monday, January 30 at 10:30 AM.  Visiting Hours Sunday from 2-5 PM.  Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton.  Donations in Kevin’s memory may be made to Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley St., West Bridgewater, MA 02379.
