Lawrence Robert Nickerson

Lawrence Robert Nickerson, 94, a resident of Taunton, died peacefully at All American Assisted Living in Raynham on Tuesday, October 18, 2022.  He was the husband of the late Mirenda “Violet” (Blades) Nickerson.  Born in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Radford Nickerson and Willa (Frost) Chamberlain.  He was a resident of Stoughton for over 50 years before moving to Taunton 5 years ago.  Lawrence served in the Canadian Merchant Marines before serving in the U.S. Army, where he was a Private 1st Class and a Veteran of the Korean War.  He was a Tow Boat Captain for Boston Fuel Transportation Company for 37 years, before retiring in 1990.  He was a longtime member of the Nickerson Family Association.  He enjoyed camping, woodworking and traveling, especially his yearly trips to Nova Scotia.  However, his greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Mr. Nickerson is survived by his sons, Radford Nickerson of Taunton, Wayne Nickerson and his wife Hollie of Middleboro, Gary Nickerson and his wife Joanne of Taunton and Brian Nickerson and his wife Gig of Middleboro.  He was the grandfather of Sarah Riendeau, Ross Nickerson, Nicole Holmes, Jake Nickerson and Sydney Nickerson.  Beloved great-grandfather of Joshua, Tyler and Lucy.  He was the brother of Olleene Thomas of Kitchner, Ontario, Canada and of the late Hollie Sommerstoffer and George Chamberlain.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, October 22 at 10 AM.  Visiting Hours Friday from 4-7 PM.  Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.  Donations in Lawrence’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452.
