Lillian M. (Atkinson) Constantine, 64, died peacefully Monday, June 6, 2022 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston. She was the beloved wife of Robert-John Constantine of New Bedford. Daughter of the late John U. and Rosemarie P. (Green) Atkinson, she was born and raised in Brockton, and was a graduate of Brockton High School, Class of 1975. Mrs. Constantine was a resident of New Bedford for the past 9 years, previously living in Raynham and Assonet for several years. She was a faithful and loyal employee at Medtronic and earlier for Covidien, Tyco and Kendall in Mansfield for over 30 years, working as a Mainframe Specialist for the last several years. She was to passionately loyal to her job and fellow team members, selflessly putting the needs of the business ahead of her own. She loved her work and was respected by the people with whom she worked.
At age 3, Lilian was diagnosed with Type-1 Juvenile Diabetes which has afflicted her health ever since. Through all of her health struggles, she bravely tried to never let her disease become her handicap. She was a passionate volunteer counselor at the Braintree Rehab Hospital Amputee Support Group, of which she was an energetic member. Ever since moving to New Bedford, Lillian has been a devout member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church. Her greatest pleasure was for family and friends, to whom she was unswervingly loyal and unstintingly generous. During their time together, Robert-John would often remark that Lillian was the best spouse that any husband could ask for: devoted, loyal and loving.
In addition to her husband, Lillian is survived by her siblings, Dianne M. Jones and her husband Herbert of Assonet, John U. Atkinson, Jr. and his wife Glenda of Michigan, Sandra J. Cotter and her husband Lawrence of New Hampshire, Donna L. Earle and her husband David of Carver, Francis L. Atkinson and his wife Denise of Plymouth, James R. Atkinson and his wife Kimberly-Ann of Brockton and Jill M. Campion and her husband Leo of Brockton. She is also survived by 51 nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 4-7 PM. Funeral Services will be Friday, June 10 at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. Donations in Lillian's memory may be made to the Braintree Rehab Amputee Support Group or any research organization working to cure Diabetes.
