Manuel H. "Manny" Branco

Manuel H. “Manny” Branco, age 81, passed away after a courageous battle with lung cancer at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston on August 18, 2025. He was the devoted husband to his late wife Maria E. (Mendonca) Branco for 54 loving years before her passing in 2020. Born in Faial, Portugal, he was the son of the late Jose Branco and Maria (Pinheiro) Branco, and immigrated to the States in 1971, where he settled in Stoughton as a lifelong resident, raising his family and making memories within the family home; some of the best memories being barbecues and pool days in the summer. Manny proudly worked at Cumberland Farms out of Canton and Westborough as a Transportation Manager for over 40 years, where he was respected and admired by many for his great leadership skills. He formed many relationships within the community as a manager and integral part of the company, and he deeply enjoyed the work within the jobs he performed before retiring in 2014. Manny was a wonderful son, devoted husband, loving father, a friend to all, but above all else, he was most proud to be a grandfather. His 6 grandchildren were the light of his life. Manny cherished his family above all things in his life, and worked tirelessly to provide for them and make them happy, which included many hours spent landscaping and dog watching for his grand puppies. He had a one-of-a-kind sense of humor and could light up any room he walked into. His many hobbies were fishing, gardening, gambling, going down the cape, but spending time with his family was his favorite past time. He will be greatly missed.

Manny is survived by his beloved children, Maria F. Freitas and her husband Norman of Stoughton, Richard M. Branco and his wife Anna of Bridgewater, and was preceded in death by his dear daughter Gina B. Costeira. He was the loving and dedicated grandfather to Jessica Lorenzo and her husband Nicholas, Christopher Freitas, Kaitlyn and Stephanie Costeira, and Ashley and Kayla Branco. He also leaves behind his son-in-law Daniel Costeira as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family will be paying their respects to Manny privately and visiting hours will be omitted. All are welcome to attend the Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton on Friday, August 22nd at 10:30 AM. Interment will be held privately with family only. In lieu of flowers, donations in Manny’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society at https://donate.cancer.org/
