Margarida Dulce (Fidalgo) Amado

Margarida Dulce (Fidalgo) Amado, age 86, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2023, at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boston. She was the loving wife to the late Antonio Amado before his untimely passing in 1970. Born in Fogo, Cape Verde, she was the daughter to the late Balbina Goncalves and Americo Fidalgo. She migrated to the United States in 1977 and began working at The Sheraton Hotel in Boston for 10 years. She then moved to Stoughton in 1990, becoming a longtime resident. She was very devoted to her faith and religion, taking many religious trips throughout her life to, Fatima, Jerusalem, and Cape Verde. She was a longtime participant at Bom Dia Adult Day Health Center in Stoughton, where she joined in 2014, continuing to socialize within the community until June of this year. She started a prayer group at the center, and was well liked within her social circle, making many friends along the way. She was also active at Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. She loved going on cruises with her family and friends, always taking pictures to document the memories she experienced. She enjoyed cooking homemade meals, tending to her garden, and always ensuring her yard was clean and tidy in appearance. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and will be greatly missed.

Margarida is survived by her children, Eunice Monteiro and her husband Antonio of Easton, Nelson Amado of Randolph, Bartolomeu Amado of Randolph and Maria Amado-Cardoso and her husband Jose Afro Cardoso of Stoughton. She was the sister to Baltazar Fidalgo of Cape Verde, Antonio Fidalgo of Boston, Egidio Fidalgo of Bridgeport, CT, Maria Fatima Fidalgo of Lisbon, Portugal, Orlando Fidalgo of Boston, Maria Gertrudes Mesquita of Boston, Maria Jose Monteiro of Boston, Pedro Fidalgo of Boston, Maria Filomena Evora of Boston, Ludovina Evora of Boston, and was preceded in death by her siblings Izilda Alves, Dinis Fidalgo and Francisco Fidalgo. She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, and leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visiting Hours will be held at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park Street, Stoughton, on Monday November 27th from 4-7 PM. Funeral will be held at the Funeral Home the next day, Tuesday, November 28th at 9:15 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church at 10:30 AM. Interment will be held at New Calvary Cemetery in Boston. In lieu of flowers, donations in Margarida’s name may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton Street, Stoughton, MA, 02072.
