Maria Conceicao (Melo) Armas

Maria Conceição (Melo) Armas, 95, died Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at her home in Stoughton after a period of declining health, surrounded by her loving family. Daughter of the late Francisco Pacheco Melo and Emelia (Belem) Melo, she was born and raised in Santa Cruz das Flores on the island of Flores in the Azores, Portugal. In 1954, she married Antonio Armas and together they enjoyed 55 years of marriage, before his passing in 2009. In 1967, they brought their young family to the United States and settled in Stoughton. She worked at Ark Les Switch in Stoughton and later worked at Power General in Canton for many years, retiring several years ago. She was a longtime parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking and spending time with her beloved family.

Maria was the beloved mother of Cruz Reis and her husband Eduardo of Stoughton, Elizabeth Armas of Flores and Nazare Armas of Stoughton. She was the grandmother of Richard Mendonca, Melanie Rappoli and Erica McNamara. Mrs. Armas was the sister of Roque Melo and Jose Antonio Melo both of Stoughton, Maria Manuela Avelar of Canada and the late Fernando Melo, Fatima Angelo, Noemia Costa, Raul Melo, Francisco Melo and João Melo. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, March 15 from 5-7 PM. Masks and social distancing required. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church and burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Stoughton.
