Maria D. (DeAndrade) Ladeira, 81, a longtime resident of Stoughton, passed away peacefully at Boston Medical Center South in Brockton on Saturday, May 16, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Antonio L. Ladeira.
Born in Ponta do Sol on the island of Madeira, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria C. (Vieira) DeAndrade. Maria came to the United States in 1960 and settled in Stoughton, where she built a life centered around faith, family, and friendship. She worked as an assembler at Northrop Grumman in Norwood for over 30 years before retiring many years ago.
Maria was a longtime communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. She enjoyed reading the Bible, writing in her journal, and going out for coffee with her sister and her friends, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Maria was the devoted mother of Rose L. Jardim and her husband, Michael, of Stoughton; the late Maria A. Crowther and her late husband, Todd; and the late Teresa A. Kinniery and her husband, Christopher, of Fall River. She was the cherished grandmother of Sean Crowther, Michael Jardim, and Jake Jardim.
She was the sister of Manuel DeAndrade and his wife, Liria, of Florida; John “Goose” DeAndrade and his wife, Darlys, of Mississippi; Constance Araujo and her husband, Tiberio, of Stoughton; and Tommy DeAndrade of Taunton. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held at Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27), Stoughton, on Friday, May 22, from 9:00–10:30 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton, at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Maria’s memory may be made to the Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation (www.myotonic.org) in honor of her daughters and family members who courageously battled Myotonic Dystrophy. Donations may be sent to 663 Thirteenth Street, Suite 100, Oakland, CA 94612.
