Maria Luiza Aguiar

Maria Luiza Aguiar, 62, died Saturday, September 30, 2023, at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved daughter of Avelino and Maria Juvelina (Gonsalves) Aguiar of Stoughton. Known as Luiza to friends and family, she was born and raised in Stoughton, and was a 1979 graduate of Stoughton High School.  She continued her education by earning her Associates Degree at Massasoit Community College and her Associates Degree at Middlesex Community College. She worked as an Assembler at Raytheon in Quincy and later at Smith & Nephew in Mansfield. Luiza was a lifelong resident of Stoughton and was a longtime member at the Church on the Rock Foursquare Church in Brockton where she enjoyed caring for children during services. She enjoyed jewelry making, fishing and spending time at the beach, especially at Nantasket Beach. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her family and her beloved nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents, Avelino and Juvelina Aguiar, she is survived by her sisters, Beatriz C. “Beaty” Libby and her husband David of Hanson, Lisa M. Johnston and her husband Tad and Tracy J. Gerome and her husband Craig all of Stoughton. She was predeceased by her sister Clarisse LaFrance and her husband Steven. She was the favorite aunt of William and Pat Libby, Angela and Teddy Johnston, Carter and Nolan Gerome, Keith LaFrance and Ashley Smith. She is also survived by her close friend Hal Harkins of Needham and her great niece Aliyah.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday from 9:30 AM-11:30 AM followed by a Funeral Service at the Church on the Rock Foursquare Church, 421 Torrey St., Brockton at 12PM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Luiza’s memory may be made to Church on the Rock, 421 Torrey St., Brockton, MA 02301.
