Maria Inez (Trigueiro) Mendonca

Maria Inez (Trigueiro) Mendonca, age 88, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2024 in Stoughton. Born in Fazenda das Lajes, Flores, Azores, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Jeronimo Gonsalves Trigueiro and Maria do Ceu Serafim Trigueiro. She was the dear wife to José V. Mendonca for 26 loving years, before his untimely passing in 2000. She was raised and educated in Portugal and immigrated to the United States in her 30’s. She settled in Stoughton, married her husband José in 1974, and became a longtime resident of Stoughton where she raised her family and made memories. She worked at Analog Devices for over 20 years making great friendships before her retirement. Inez was very devoted to her faith and volunteered at Immaculate Conception Church and her community for many years. She often cooked Portuguese food and brought it to older members of the community. She was always thinking of others and how she could help those in need. Her last project was knitting scarves that she gave to family, friends, the staff members at Copley where she went for rehab, members of the community, fundraisers, and even made many for those homeless helped by her church one recent Christmas. She will be greatly missed.

Inez is survived by her daughter Nancy Mendonca Browning and her wife Cassie of Bethesda, MD. She was the sister of Maria Mendonca and Daniel Trigueiro and was preceded in death by her brother José Trigueiro. She is also survived by her grandchildren Bennett and Beckett Browning and many nieces and nephews, including Ana DeAndrade and Doreen Trigueiro who helped take care of her in recent years. She also leaves behind many close cousins and friends here, in Canada, and in the Azores.

Visiting Hours will be held at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park Street (Rt. 27) Stoughton, on Friday July 5th from 4-7 PM. Funeral will be held the next day, Saturday July 6th at the funeral home, at 9:30 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Interment will be held at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Inez’s memory may be made to Father Bills & Mainspring Inc. in Brockton serving the homeless.
