Maria Jose (Teixeira) Sousa, 83, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, April 6, 2022. She was the wife of Lidio N. Sousa since 1965. Daughter of the late Francisco and Maria Madalena (Coelho) Teixeira, she was born and raised in Madeira, Portugal before moving to Stoughton in 1965. She worked at Raytheon in both Norwood and Quincy for over 30 years. Upon her retirement, she worked at the YMCA in Stoughton for over 10 years.

In addition to her husband, Maria is survived by her daughter, Bernadette T. Winslet and her partner Bryan Packard. She was the sister of Conceicão DeAscensão of Stoughton and the late Maria Correia, Francisco Teixeira, Antonieta Jardim, Celina Barros, Jose I. Teixeira and Isaque Teixeira. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, April 12th from 9:30 – 11 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 11:30 AM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
