Marie A. (McDonald) Lane, 92, died Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at the Boston Medical Center South in Brockton after a period of declining health. Born in Brighton, she was raised and educated in Newton and was a graduate of Mt. Alvernia Academy and Our Lady Help of Christians High School in Newton. She was a resident of Stoughton for over 70 years. In 1956 Marie married Joseph A. Lane, and together they spent over 61 years together and raised their four sons, before his passing in 2017. Marie worked at Ark-Les Switch in Stoughton for several years, previously worked at the Gamewell Company in Newton. She retired many years ago. Along with her husband, she was very active with the Cub Scouts, Pack 16 in Stoughton and served as a Den Mother for several years. Marie enjoyed watching old movies and also enjoyed a Wendy’s Classic Chicken Sandwich followed by a helping of Oreo’s cookies whenever possible. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing and doing crafts and spending time with her beloved family.
Marie was the mother of Edward F. Lane of Dracut, David R. Lane of Attleboro, Richard A. Lane of Medford and the late Joseph A. Lane, Jr. She was the sister of the late Faith Wilson, Louise Poulin, Eleanor Derby and Mary Lou Halloran. She was predeceased by 1 granddaughter. Marie is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, June 11 from 4-7 PM. Graveside Services will be held in the Blue Hill Cemetery, 700 West St., Braintree on Friday, June 12 at 11 AM.
At Marie’s request, her family respectfully asks for no flowers to be sent but donations to be made to the Disabled American Veterans, JFK Federal Building, Room 1551, 15 New Sudbury St., Boston, MA 02203.
