Marie Elaine (Fate) Owens

Marie Elaine (Fate) Owens, 80, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Monday, May 29, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.  She was the wife of John M. Owens for 60 years.  Daughter of the late Marie (Rizzacasa) and Charles Fate, Jr., she was born in Boston and raised in Hyde Park.  She was a graduate of Hyde Park High School.  She resided in Stoughton for the past 55 years.  Marie was a secretary for Stoughton Public Schools for 10 years then Randolph Public Schools for over 10 years before retiring 13 years ago.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband, Marie is survived by her children, Lisa M. Shannon of Plainfield, IL and John M. “Jay” Owens, Jr. and his wife Kelli of Stoughton as well as her grandchildren, Owen Shannon, Casey Shannon, Liah Shannon, Gracie Owens, Laila Owens and Cooper Owens.  She is also survived by her former son-in-law, Timothy Shannon as well as many nieces and nephews.  She was also the proud “Grandma” of Zeus. 

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, June 2 at 11 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 12 PM.  Visiting Hours Thursday from 4-7 PM.  Interment will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Marie‘s memory may be made to American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
