Marjorie E. (Connors) Mayo, 88, a lifelong resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Clifford E. Mayo for 68 years. Daughter of the late James E. and Ethel (Deane) Connors, she was born in Stoughton on June 27, 1935. She was educated in Saint Mary’s and Stoughton Schools. Marjorie was a homemaker and worked at J.W. Wood in Stoughton and Chadwick’s of Boston. She enjoyed time camping in Maine, her beloved yellow lab “Duke”, crocheting & knitting, and spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her husband, Marjorie was the mother to three sons, Robert J. Mayo and his wife Pamela of Dartmouth, Charles E. Mayo of Stoughton and the late Steven J. Mayo and the grandmother of Ian Mayo of Dartmouth and Elizabeth Mayo of Bend, Oregon. She was the sister of the late Geraldine Kelley, Joanne “Honey” Starr, Mary Wilbur and James Connors. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Prayers will be offered from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, December 19 at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Monday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marjorie‘s memory may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168 (https://www.dana-farber.org/).
