Mary Alice (Fernandes) Costa, 90, died Sunday, October 4, 2026, at the St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Brighton, after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Raul M. Costa. Born on the island of Madeira in Portugal, she moved to the United States at age 12 and settled in Stoughton and attended Stoughton Schools. Mary lived in Stoughton until 2024 when she moved to Taunton to be closer to family. She worked at American Bilt Rite in Stoughton and Plymouth Rubber Company in Canton, for many years and retired several years ago. She was an avid gardener. Mary was a dedicated and loving grandmother who cherished being surrounded by her family and her time spent with her beloved granddaughters.

Mary is survived by her son, Anthony Costa and his wife Lassalete of Taunton and her granddaughters, Gabriella Costa, Isabella Hall and her husband Jordan, and Cristina Costa. She was the sister of Alzira “Elsie” Campanario of Stoughton and the late John Fernandes, Manuel Fernandes, David Fernandes and Maria DaSilva. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, October 8, 2026 from 4-7 PM. Funeral will be held from the Funeral Home on Friday at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
