Mary C. (Evans) Burns

Mary C. (Evans) Burns, age 95, passed away at her residence in Stoughton on October 15, 2022. Born in Boston, daughter of the late Ellen F. (Sears) and Harry J. Evans, she was wife of over 74 loving years to the late Donald J. Burns.  Mary was raised in Roxbury and Dorchester and she attended St. Joseph’s Academy and Roxbury High School, graduating in 1945. She worked as a Secretary for the Federal Trade Commission for over 15 years before retiring in 1988. Mary was a longtime resident of Stoughton and was active in the Stoughton Women’s club for many years.

Mary is survived by her children, Sharon A. Kratohvil of Norton, Joanne E. Loud and her husband Walter of Stoughton and Susan E. Weston and her husband George of Bloomsburg, PA. She was the grandmother to Jennifer Caristi, Christopher Bolster and Michael Loud and great-grandmother of Kyle Loud, Benjamin Caristi and Hunter Loud. She was the sister to Catherine Evans of Bridgewater and was predeceased by her sister Joan Donovan her brother Harry Evans, Jr. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday October 19^th, from 10-11AM, with Funeral Prayers at 11AM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in Mary’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
