Mary (Gibbons) Doody

Mary (Gibbons) Doody, 89, died Saturday, February 22, 2026, at the Boston Medical Center South in Brockton, after a period of failing health. Born in Boston, daughter of the late Edward Gibbons and Mary (McDonough) Gibbons and stepdaughter to the late Rita Gibbons. She was raised and educated in the Boston area and was a graduate of Boston Schools. Mary was a resident of Stoughton for over 53 years.

Mary worked as a Customer Service Representative at the Stoughton Cooperative Bank in Stoughton for many years and retired in 2010. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with friends at the Stoughton Senior Center. A dedicated mother and loving grandmother, Mary enjoyed time with her family and cherished her time surrounded by her children, grandchildren, siblings, and extended family.

Mary is survived by her children, Elizabeth Barrett of Easton, James Harkins of Milford, Mary Ann Harkins, who was her caregiver and Michael Harkins, both of Stoughton. She was the sister of Rita Gibbons of Brookline, MA, Nancy Sias of CA. the late Richard Gibbons, Edward Gibbons, Florence Mallett and Patricia Cabral. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral services will be private.
