Mary J. Emma, 76, a resident of Canton, died peacefully at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Tuesday, May 19, 2020. Daughter of the late Joseph and Jennie (Pasquale) Emma, she was born in Roxbury and raised in Dorchester. She was educated in Boston schools and attended Northeastern University. Mary was a resident of Canton for 10 years after living in Avon for 30 years. She was a dental lab technician at Tufts Medical Center in Boston for several years. Mary was a Past President of the Women's Auxiliary at American Legion Post 89 in Stoughton. She was the loving mother of 4 children and enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be very dearly missed.
Mary is pre-deceased by her son Joseph Sweetman, her daughter Lisa Sweetman and her grandson David Leary. She is survived by her daughter Jeanine Griffith of Sparks, NV, her son William Sweetman of Taunton, MA, her longtime companion and dear friend Thomas K. Hunt, her grandchildren Jeanine, William, Daniel, Jill, Jennifer and her sister Vera Ghilardi of Avon, MA. Mary will also be missed by her great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
