Mary Fanchea (Hayes) Mulligan

Mary “Fanchea” (Hayes) Mulligan, 75, died Thursday, December 28, 2023, at the Milton Hospital in Milton, after a long period of failing health. Born in Galway, Ireland, daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Feeney) Hayes, she came to the United States as a young woman in 1960 and settled in the Savin Hill section of Dorchester. She graduated from Msgr. Ryan Memorial High School in Dorchester. In 1973 she married Bernard “Ben” Mulligan and they spent over 41 years happily married until his death in 2014. She was a longtime resident of Stoughton. Fanchea and Ben were members of the Irish Cultural Society in Canton. In her free time, she enjoyed watching the Home Shopping and spending time with her extended family.

Fanchea is survived by her siblings, James Enda Hayes of Dorchester and Vourneen Hoxsie and her husband Kenneth of Sherborn. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton, on Saturday January 6th from 10-11 AM, followed by Funeral Prayers at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Fanchea’s memory may be made to My Brother’s Keeper, POBox 338, Easton, MA 02358.
