Mary V. (Krollman) Reed, 92, died Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, after a period of failing health. She was the wife of 71 years of Jack Reed. Born in Boston and raised in Dorchester and Stoughton, she was a graduate of Stoughton High School. Mary was a resident of Stoughton for many years. Additionally, she loved and looked forward to spending time at her home at Sebago Lake, Maine. Her time at the lake was never wasted as she enjoyed watching and interacting with the generations of neighbors vacationing over the years. Mary worked as a Teacher’s Aide at the Dawe School in Stoughton for several years, previously working at JW Wood in Stoughton and Westinghouse in Hyde Park. She enjoyed bird watching, gardening, sewing, crocheting, painting and Bingo and she loved art, music and playing her piano. Mary and Jack enjoyed traveling and have with fond memories of their numerous trips across the U.S. and to Aruba, various Caribbean islands, Israel, Ireland, Germany, the Azores and the United Kingdom. Mary was a member of the Stoughton Irish American Club. She was a gifted cook and baker and was known for her American Chop Suey. Despite being diagnosed with Macular Degeneration, she enjoyed reading and doing word puzzle books and watching BBC television shows. Mary had a keen sense of humor and a kind heart. She adored her Wire Fox and Airedale Terriers, and above all, she loved spending time with her beloved family.
In addition to her husband Jack, Mary is survived by her children, Scott Reed of Taunton and Deborah Reed Carley of Sharon. She was predeceased by her brother Gregory Krollman and her sister Susan Walsh. She is also survived by her beloved granddaughter Elizabeth Reed of RI and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, October 19th from 10-11 AM followed by Funeral Prayers at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
