Mary Theresa Martin

Mary Theresa Martin, age 50, passed away after a brief illness on November 29, 2025, at Boston Medical Center South in Brockton. Born and raised in Stoughton, she was the cherished daughter of Rosemary E. (Craig) Martin and George A. “Al” Martin who lovingly recognized from her earliest days her extraordinary strength and endearing spirit.

Mary grew up surrounded by family, faith, and friends that adored her. She attended the Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, graduating with the Class of 1997. Her years at Perkins were among the most joyful and defining of her life. There, Mary flourished. She was athletic, fearless, musically gifted, and fully alive in every part of the community that shaped her. Whether she was running the track, swimming or singing in chorus, Mary approached everything with enthusiasm and a bold spirit.

After graduating, Mary entered the BAMSI program, where she quickly became a beloved and familiar presence. Her family fondly called her “the mayor,” because Mary had a rare and remarkable gift: she could recognize people by voice alone, and she made everyone feel seen, valued, and welcomed. Her kindness was unwavering, and her ability to form genuine connections was one of her greatest strengths. Staff, friends, and family alike were touched deeply by the love and warmth she offered so naturally.

Mary lived her life with courage and joy. Though she faced challenges, she never allowed them to diminish her sense of adventure or her zest for life. She embraced every day with determination, humor, and an open heart. She found happiness in both the big moments and the small ones - especially her well-known love for mac and cheese. Her laughter was unmistakable, her generosity had no limits, and her social nature made her unforgettable. Her impact will remain long after her passing.

She is survived by her devoted parents; her siblings Lisa Martin of North Carolina, Edward Martin of Stoughton, and Sharon Crugnale and her husband Carmine of Canton; as well as her beloved nieces and nephews - Melissa Martin, George Martin, Amanda Matuawana, Abigail Martin, Jacob Crugnale, and Isabella Crugnale. She also leaves behind her beloved aunt, Nancy Craig, and a community of friends and caregivers who loved her deeply.

Visitation will be held at Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park Street (Rt. 27), Stoughton, on Thursday, December 4th, from 9–10 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton at 10:30 AM.
