Matthew Joseph Andrews, 52, a resident of Taunton, died unexpectedly on Thursday, April 2, 2026 in Braintree. He was born in Quincy, son of the late Ralph J. “Gus” and Janet P. (D’Angelo) Andrews. He was a lifelong resident of Stoughton before moving to Taunton two years ago. Matt was a Class of 1992 graduate of Stoughton High School, where he excelled at both basketball and golf. He was the founder and coach of New England Longhorns & Eastern Mass. Knights Basketball for over 5 years. He was an avid Boston sports fan and still enjoyed playing basketball and golf.
Matt is survived by his siblings, Michelle L. Andrews of Boston, Mark J. Andrews and his fiancée Pamela Varner of Stoughton and Melissa L. Freel and her husband Michael of Stoughton. He was the uncle of Erin, Megan, Michael, Cameron, Colby, Jake, Connor, Kylee, Abigale and Alanna. He was the nephew of Lillian Clare, Jack D’Angelo and his wife Jeanne and Tom D’Angelo and his wife Renee.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, April 16 from 4-6:30 PM followed by Funeral Prayers at 6:30 PM. A Graveside Service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, 1100 Washington St. (Rte. 138) Stoughton on Friday, April 17 at 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Matthew’s memory may be made to the Office of Pastoral Support & Outreach, 66 Brooks Dr., Braintree, MA 02184.
