Mildred L. (Reid) Wade

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our Mother, Mildred L. (Reid) Wade, age 94, on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, after a period of failing health. Millie was the wife of the late Charles L. Wade and daughter of the late Alfred and Rowena (Haskins) Reid. She was born on February 3, 1931, raised in Easton, and was a graduate of Oliver Ames High School, Class of 1949.

In 1951, she married Charles Wade. They raised 4 beloved children and spent over 69 happy years together, until his death in 2020. They filled their home on Broadway in Stoughton with love, laughter, family and friends for over 60 years before moving to Easton. Millie moved to Brookmeadow at Cobb Corner in Stoughton in 2024, where she enjoyed dining with friends and freedom from housework and cooking.

Millie was a dedicated wife, mother, and American Legion Auxiliary member. Millie found joy in her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother, always willing to babysit, chat or play games. As a working mom, she did secretarial work for a builder and finished her career working at Morse Shoe in Canton. She did volunteer work and made many friends in the American Legion Auxiliary, where she held many local and state offices. Volunteering at the West Roxbury VA Hospital Christmas Gift Shop was a favorite.

In her free time, Millie enjoyed knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, ceramics, cribbage, and card games. She enjoyed traveling and spend many winters as snowbirds in Florida with Charlie. Millie loved being near the ocean, walking the beach collecting sea glass, viewing ships in the Cape Cod Canal, watching storm waves from the car in Hull, or dining by the water with family. Even in her 90s, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy were her nightly game show must-sees.

Even with all these pleasures, being with family, and getting and giving hugs gave her the most enjoyment.

Millie was the wife of the late Charles L. Wade, and the mother of Barbara Landon and her late husband Jeffrey of Mansfield, Gail Collett and her late husband Albert of North Easton, Brenda Sestito and her husband Michael of Brockton, and Gerald Wade and his wife Amy of Stoughton. She was also the proud grandmother of Kristen Welch, Matthew Landon and Stephan Collett and predeceased by Russell Wade and Michael Collett. She was great-grandmother to six: Marlena, Savannah, Kaitlyn, Lila, Sophia and Isabella. She was predeceased by her brother George W. Reid and is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
