Muriel C. (Murphy) Bailey, aged 97, passed away on December 30, 2023, at the Copley in Stoughton. She was married to her late husband, Paul Bailey, for 40 loving years. Born in Boston, she was the daughter to the late Aloysius and Alice (Wallace) Murphy and was raised in Wollaston, Dorchester and Quincy. A graduate of Quincy High School, she worked as a secretary at Paramount Pictures and United Artists in Boston. Before she moved to Stoughton, she raised her family and was a long-time resident of Brockton. There she worked at Cardinal Spellman in the cafeteria, Unique Boutique (her favorite), and most recently at Dunnington’s Pharmacy in Brockton. After retiring, she enjoyed traveling, going out to eat with the Red Hats (Braintree chapter), and making chips and dip for weekly family night that became a tradition. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Muriel is survived by her children Paul Bailey, Jr. and his wife Janet of North Carolina, John Bailey of Abington, Kathleen Ewing and Marcus Silva of Stoughton, and was predeceased by her son Daniel Bailey. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Haleigh Ewing, Taylor Ewing, Tracey Travers, Paul Bailey III, Tony Bailey, Holly Bailey, Tina Bailey, and Kim Bailey, as well as her 3 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sister Dorothy Keller of Brockton, and was preceded in death by her siblings Hugh MacDonald, Eleanor Pyne, Alice Tremblay, and Lois Cirino. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park Street (Rt. 27), Stoughton on Friday, January 5th from 9-10 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM, at Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Randolph. In lieu of flowers, donations in Muriel’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or https://www.stjude.org/donate.
