Myles W. "Billy" Standish, 83, a lifelong resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 13, 2022. He was the husband of Patricia (Kelly) Standish for 45 years. Son of the late Edward K. and Marion Elizabeth (Trowbridge) Standish, he was born in Stoughton and graduated from Stoughton High School, Class of 1956. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Buzzards Bay. Billy was a Private First Class in the U.S. Army and a Veteran of the Vietnam Era. He was a shipfitter at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy for 10 years before being a medical claims examiner for Guardian Life Insurance Company for 15 years until his retirement 18 years ago. He was a history buff and avid NASCAR fan.
In addition to his wife, Billy is survived by his daughters, Kim A. Mylonas of Brockton and Karen T. McCafferty and her husband Kyle of Buckfield, ME. He was the grandfather of Stavros Mylonas, Hailey McNeil, Hannah McNeil, Cole McCafferty and Elaina McCafferty and great-grandfather of Carter and Harlow. He was the brother of Judy Haynes of Boylston, Priscilla O'Brien of Falmouth, Chace Standish and Gary Standish both of Melbourne, FL and the late John "Jack" Standish. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, April 19 from 10-11:30 AM. Funeral Service and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Billy's memory may be made to Accent Care Hospice, 1 Edgewater Drive, Norwood, MA 02062.
