Nelson Fraga Mendonca, 50, a resident of Mansfield, died at Boston Medical Center South in Brockton on Monday, May 4, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of Manuel G. and Maria Teresa (Fraga) Mendonca. He was born in Stoughton and raised in Stoughton and Easton. Nelson was a graduate of Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School, Class of 1993 and Massasoit Community College in Brockton. He resided in Mansfield for the past 20 years. Nelson was an accountant at various companies in the area. He enjoyed reading and music, going to concerts and watching sports with his son, Tyler. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially Tyler.
In addition to his parents, Nelson is survived by his son, Tyler J. Mendonca of Mansfield. He was the brother of Cidalia Staiti and her husband Matthew of Easton. He was the uncle of Anthony Tedeschi, Mia Staiti, Olivia Staiti and Juliana Staiti. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, May 7 from 4-7 PM. Funeral will be held from the funeral home on Friday, May 8 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nelson‘s memory may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168 or www.dana-farber.org.
