Noel G. Rodrigues

Noel Gerardo Freitas Rodrigues, 82, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. Son of the late Jose Baeta Rodrigues and Maria do Carmo (deFreitas) Rodrigues, he was born and raised in Lajes das Flores on the island of Flores in the Azores, Portugal. He served in the Portuguese Army in the Dragons Platoon and was stationed in Angola.

Noel came to the United States in 1976 and settled in Stoughton. He was a welder at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy for several years before working at Cumberland Farms for 20 years until his retirement 20 years ago. He enjoyed fishing and gardening but his greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Noel is survived by his sons, Leonel Borges Rodrigues and his wife Vilma, Daniel Borges Rodrigues and his fiancée Susie Gross and Michael Borges Rodrigues and his fiancée Patricia Ann Anderson all of Stoughton. He was the grandfather of Leo Rodrigues, Logan Rodrigues, Sabrina Rodrigues, Isabella Rodrigues, Victor Oliveira, Michael Rodrigues, Julia Peterson, Jordan Igoe and the late Lincoln Rodrigues. He was the brother of Maria Fatima Ferreira of California, Maria Leonor Rosa of Flores, Portugal, Victorino Rodrigues of Rhode Island, Joseph Rodrigues of Taunton, Maria Margarida Rodrigues of Maine and the late Maria Palmira Gomes, Jose Guilherme Rodrigues, Maria Lurdes Nunes, Maria Albertina Soares, Noel Rodrigues and Maria Leonor Rodrigues. He is also survived by his former wife, Denia L. Borges and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, June 8 from 9-10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
