Patricia Elaine (Cowan) Fossella, 83, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Robert C. Fossella for 62 years. She was born in Brockton, daughter of the late Granville A. and Stephanie A. (Kozlowski) Cowan. Pat was a graduate of Brockton High School, Class of 1960 and Brockton Hospital School of Nursing. After her marriage, she and her husband moved to Stoughton in 1963 to begin their family. She was a registered nurse for years, working at the Brockton Hospital, Goddard Memorial Hospital in Stoughton and the Brockton Visiting Nurses Association. Pat was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and spent many years teaching others about the Bible and the hope it offers for the future. She loved going to the beach, in particular Taylor’s Point in Bourne but her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Pat is survived by her children, Leah M. Fossella of Lakeville, Robert M. Fossella and his wife Bridget of Stoughton and Bethany L. Oliveira-Fossella and her husband Gilson of Easton. She was the proud “Nanna” to 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of Ruth Cowan of Pembroke and Barbara Cirelli of Duxbury and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
