Richard R. “Dick” Fowler, 78, died Sunday, December 14, 2025, at his home in Brockton, after a long period of declining health. Born, raised and educated in Stoughton, he was a Veteran of the US Army. In 1978, he married Sandra A. Smith and together they spent over 47 years married. Dick worked for the VA Hospital in Brockton for several years before having to retire due to an injury. He then worked with his son Jeff, and his business, DJ Jeff Fowler, for many years. Dick was also a longtime dedicated volunteer for BTV Access Corporation in Bridgewater, where he received the Presidential Volunteer Recognition Award for his many years of service. In his free time, Dick enjoyed gardening and music.
In addition to his wife, Sandra A. (Smith) Fowler of Brockton, he is survived by his children, Keith J. Fowler of Fall River, Karen A. Taylor of VA, Kathleen M. Fowler of Halifax and Jeffrey A. Fowler of Brockton. He was the brother of Nancy Hanlon of Stoughton, Michael Fowler of West Bridgewater and the late Ida Jackson, Rose Cunningham, William Fowler and Ruth Coffey. He is also survived by several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, December 18, 2025 from 4-7 PM. Funeral Prayers will be offered in the funeral home on Friday, December 19, 2025 at 10 AM followed by burial at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dick’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
