Richard O. Geist

Richard O. “Dick” Geist, 82, died unexpectedly Sunday, December 4, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton.  He was the husband of Barbara E. (Sawyer) Dart Geist and the late Mariam L. (Rietzel) Geist.  Born in Boston, he was raised and educated in Roslindale and was a graduate of Boston Tech.  Dick was also a graduate of Northeastern University.  He was a Veteran of the National Guard.  After graduating from Northeastern, Dick took a job with the Radar Division at Raytheon, where he worked until he joined Boston Edison.  He worked for Boston Edison for over 30 years, retiring in 1994.  He was an avid mountain climber and enjoyed climbing the Presidential Range in New Hampshire. He also enjoyed Scuba Diving, playing tennis and playing hockey.  As a young man, he loved Hot Rods.  In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. 

In addition to his wife Barbara, he is survived by his two sons, Douglas R. Geist and his wife the late Michelle J. Geist and Andrew D. Geist and his longtime partner Jane MacAuslan, all of Wareham.  He was the stepfather of Michael Dart of Waltham, Timothy Dart of Woburn and Jeffrey Dart of Taunton. Dick was the brother of Susan Cole of CA and was the grandfather of Jessica M., Nicole J. and Douglas R. Geist II, Joshua and Amber Geist. 

Funeral Service will be held at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 10 AM.  Visiting Hours Friday, December 9, 2022 from 4-7 PM.  Donations in Dick’s memory may be made to Tunnels to Towers, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306.
