Richard "Rick" Vita

Richard “Rick” Vita, 66, died Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. Born in Medford, son of the late Richard C. and June (Doherty) Vita, he was raised and educated in Stoughton and was a 1978 graduate of Stoughton High School. Rick continued his education at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, graduating in 1982. It was at Stoughton High where he met Beverly Barry and they married in 1984. Rick and Beverly raised their 4 children in Mansfield where they lived for over 30 years, spending their summers in Wareham. Rick and Beverly then became full-time residents of Wareham over 10 years ago. Rick worked in Technology Sales and Consulting for several area companies including Amdahl in Waltham, Dell EMC in Hopkinton, and Accenture. He later worked as a global business consultant. Recently, Rick enjoyed working as a private equity trader.

His family was the center of his life and Rick cherished the time spent with them. He enjoyed boating on the Wareham River, baseball, music, photography and traveling, especially to Italy. Rick also enjoyed tending to his garden and loved cooking Italian food, especially pizza. His favorite times were surrounded by his family and friends.

In addition to his wife Beverly (Barry) Vita, he is survived by his 4 beloved children: Richard J. Vita of Los Angeles, Alexa B. Vita of New York City, James A. and his wife Claudia M. Vita of Hyde Park, and Samantha M. Vita of Los Angeles. He was the brother of Robin Andreotti and her husband Lou of Hopedale, and Renee Anderson and her husband Rick of Easton. He is also survived by many in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 from 4-7 PM. Funeral Services will take place in the funeral home on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at 10 AM.

Rick was the recipient of two kidney transplants and his family is appreciative of the care and love he received from the staff at Tufts Medical Center. In honor of their care, donations in Rick’s memory may be made to Tufts Medical Center – Nephrology Department.
