Robert J. Balzarini, 88, died unexpectedly on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at his home in Stoughton. Born in Boston, son of Joseph Balzarini and Catherine (Crowley) Balzarini, Bob was raised in Roxbury by Bertha “Ma” Virgin and her husband, Hiram "John" Virgin. He was forever grateful for their kindness and compassion. Bob was a graduate of Boston Schools. Following his graduation, Bob enlisted in The United States Marine Corp and honorably served from 1953-1960. He was a resident of Stoughton for over 50 years. After working in Boston, he worked for many years in the Receiving Area of Stoughton Town Spa and retired several years ago. He was well thought of by the employees he worked with at “The Spa”.
Bob was quick-witted, had a great sense of humor, and loved to make others smile. He enjoyed watching Boston Sports Teams and old movies, and loved music, especially The Big Bands. In years past he enjoyed bus trips to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun, spending time with his good friend, Bob Cushing. Bob preferred not to cook at home. He loved to eat at his favorite restaurants. He liked the company of those who dined around him.
Bob is survived by his dear and loyal friends, Robert and Kathy MacEachern and their family. They enjoyed spending time with Bob as he shared stories of his younger days. He will be genuinely missed by them. Bob and Kathy would like to thank the owners and waitstaff of the establishments Bob frequented – Zachary’s Breakfast & Lunch, Corner Café, and The Chateau, all located in Stoughton. The staff of these restaurants were exceptionally kind to Bob and will certainly miss his sense of humor.
Honoring Bob’s request, there will be no services. Donations in Bob’s memory may be made to The Italian Home for Children, 1125 Centre St., Jamaica Plain, MA 02130. A Celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date.
