Robert W. Cedrone, 70, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at home on Saturday, May 3, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Robin A. (Denneno) Cedrone for 42 years. Son of the late Lawrence F. and Jacqueline (Whalen) Cedrone, he was born in Milton and raised in Canton. Bob was a graduate of Canton High School, Class of 1972 and Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. He resided in Stoughton for the past 42 years. He was the Director of Purchasing at Republic Plumbing Supply in Norwood, where he worked for 41 years until retiring in September of 2024.
A world-class Masters track & field athlete, Bob was a 38x USATF National Champion in the Hammer, Weight, Super Weight and Ultraweight Pentathlon, the M65 US record holder in the Ultraweight Pentathlon, and a 3x World Masters Association gold medalist. In 2024, he was honored to receive the Carol Finsrud Award for Lifetime Achievement as a Masters thrower. In his college years, Bob was a school record holder and All-American in the shot put and 35 lb. indoor weight throw at Bates, and won a silver medal in the Hammer Throw at the NCAA Division III National Championships. Bob’s legacy and contributions to the sport extended into the community he helped build with the Twilight Throwers club, his commitment to youth throwing events, and his support for the Masters Throws Championships.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his children, Richard M. Cedrone and his wife Eileen of Sleepy Hollow, NY and Angela L. Maziarz and her husband Robert of Hingham as well as his grandchildren, Theodore Cedrone, Rocco Cedrone, Mila Maziarz and Jackson Maziarz. He was the brother of Jay Cedrone of Maryland and Gary Cedrone of Foxboro. He is also survived by his best friend, Mike Woicik of Irving, TX and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton St., Stoughton on Thursday, May 8 from 3-7 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church on Friday, May 9 at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at South Easton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s memory may be made to the Special Olympics of Massachusetts, 512 Forest St., Marlborough, MA 01752 (www.specialolympicsma.org) or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (www.stjude.org).
