Robert Joseph Hamel, 95, a resident of Carver, died peacefully at the VA Medical Center in Brockton on Wednesday, July 15, 2026. He was the husband of Beverley D. (Eaton) Hamel for 58 years. Son of the late Walter I. and Maude E. (Kelly) Hamel, he was born and raised in Haverhill. Bob was a graduate of Governor Dummer Academy in Newbury before enlisting in the U.S. Army, where he was a Veteran of the Korean War before being honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant.
Bob and his wife Beverley settled in Foxboro, where they raised their family and resided for over 50 years before moving to Carver 15 years ago. He was a computer programmer at IBM and New England Telephone for several years. He then was an entrepreneur, having several different businesses in the area. Bob was a member of the VFW Post 7238 in Sharon and the American Legion. His greatest joys were traveling with his wife and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his children, Thomas Hamel and his wife Margie of Chula Vista, CA, Maria Hamel of St. Petersburg, FL, Robert Hamel of Norton, Jay Hamel and his wife Julie of Foxboro and Deborah Taylor and her husband Bronson of Dunedin, FL as well as his grandchildren, Tina Hamel, Sandy Hamel-Valenzuela, Robert Hamel and Jayme Hamel. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Helen, Bunny and Bertha and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
