Robert W. Reid, 84, died peacefully Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at the Pat Roche Hospice House in Hingham, after a long period of declining health. Born and raised in Hyde Park, he was a graduate of Cathedral High School in Boston. He was also a graduate of Northeastern University and earned his Certified Public Accountant designation. In 1982, he married Patricia Hannaford, and together they have spent the last 41 years living in Stoughton and spending time at the cottage. He worked as a Price Analyst as a Civilian Contractor for the US Air Force at Hanscom Air Force Base for many years, retiring at age 54. He also worked as a self employed CPA for many years, retiring at age 60. Bob and Pat enjoyed traveling in their retirement and have fond memories of their trips to Ireland, England, Scotland, Iceland and Bermuda. He enjoyed watching television, the Red Sox and Patriots and relaxing while reading the Boston Globe. He was a beloved husband, father, step father and Papa who loved spending time in Hull and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Patricia H. (Hannaford) Reid of Stoughton, he is survived by his children, Brendan J. Reid of MA and Caitlin Schiffer of NH. He was the father of the late Bryan Reid. Bob was the stepfather of Cheryl L. Linden of Easton, Sharon L. Yandell of Wakefield and Susan L. Doherty of Stoughton and the brother of Leo Reid of Weymouth and the late Kevin Reid. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at 8:30 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Monday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Rock Ridge Cemetery, Sharon. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Association
