Robert Otto Ricci

Robert Otto Ricci, 90, Of Stoughton, MA, and Boynton Beach, FL, originally Providence, RI, passed peacefully into eternal rest on Sunday, September 5, 2021 surrounded by his children. Born in Providence, RI to Helen (Pilloni) and Ottaviano Ricci, he was raised in Providence and was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School where he excelled in both baseball and football. He furthered his education by accepting an athletic scholarship to the University of Maryland, where he played both sports. Upon his graduation from Maryland, he was drafted by the Brooklyn Dodgers. He was also drafted into the United States Air Force where he loyally served during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in several stations, including Alaska. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned home to Rhode Island and later married Edna Fiore, with whom he shared over 53 years of marriage and lovingly raised three children before her death in 2011. He later welcomed his four beloved grandchildren.

Mr. Ricci was the founder and owner of Mooney New England in Brockton, a company he owned for many years. He retired several years ago. A lifelong athlete, Bob was a member of Thorny Lea Golf Club where he honed his incredible golf skills. At the peak of his game with a 4 handicap, he won many tournaments at clubs throughout New England. He was most proud of his hole in one at Thorney Lea, Hole #3 and the 68 he shot at Augusta Country Club in Augusta, ME. He loved the game, talking about it and coaching his children and their spouses how to play. A Communicant of St. James Church, he enjoyed golf, reading, history, and spending time with his family celebrating all events around the dinner table.

Bob is the adoring father of Karen O'Toole and her husband Larry; Robyn Wood and her husband Michael of Sandwich and Robert Ricci, Jr. and his wife Erica of Demarest, NJ. Devoted GrandDad to Julia Wood, Evelyn and Daniel Ricci and the late Olivia Wood. In addition to his wife Edna, he was predeceased by his brothers Howard and Richard Ricci. Bob is also survived by his friend Phyllis Dickinson and many loving nieces and nephews.

Bob's family would like to extend sincere thanks to the nurses and aides from Old Colony Hospice for their professional and sympathetic care over his final days.
