Roger Hardy, 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle on Friday, November 28, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Roger touched the lives of many with his kindness, strength, and unwavering love.
He was married to Donna (Cirino) Hardy, his childhood sweetheart for 57 years. Together they shared a lifetime of laughter, devotion, and unforgettable memories.
In his early years, Roger was a bit of a rebel, full of energy and spirit. As the years went on, he became the sweetest and quietest man in the room: gentle, thoughtful, and deeply caring.
He raised his family in Stoughton before moving to Canton 15 years ago.
Roger was the proud father to Gina Ventresco and her husband Ralph of Easton, Roger Hardy Jr., LT, Stoughton PD of Stoughton, and Dave Hardy of Easton. His greatest joy came from being “Papa” to his cherished grandchildren: Alexa Ventresco, Tyler Hardy, Domenic Ventresco, Nick Hardy, and Gianna Hardy. Some of his favorite memories were the weekly Wednesday night dinners with his family laughing.
Born into a large family, Roger was the middle child of 15 siblings, the chaos of a big family shaped his sense of humor and resilience. Roger was an avid sports fan and never missed a Patriots, Bruins or Red Sox game. He was also a huge fan of the Montreal Canadians and the Raiders. Roger enjoyed simple pleasures: treating himself to giant bowls of ice cream, playing poker, a good cup of coffee, scratching lottery tickets, and reminding all of us to put in his daily number.
He was a gentle and kind man who would truly give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He was also tough as anything and never complained, no matter what he faced.
Roger leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, humor, and selflessness. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
May he rest in peace—forever loved, fondly remembered and always our “Papi.”
