Obituary

Ronaldo Manoel, 61, passed away in Florida, with his loving husband, Kevin McGinnis by his side, following a courageous several-year struggle with dementia. Ronaldo and Kevin shared 25 years together, marrying in 2017 and building a life filled with love, companionship, and memories. Born and educated in Imbituba, Brazil, Ronaldo was the beloved son of the late Abilio Manoel and Tomasia de Oliveira Manoel. Before coming to the United States, he worked for many years as an English Linguistics teacher, and eventually settled in Brockton, where he continued his career as a professional painter with Lacerda and Sons for many years. Ronaldo had a deep love for gardening, especially caring for his beloved dahlias. He found great joy in spending time outdoors tending to his garden, where the quiet moments surrounded by nature became a source of peace and therapy for him. He was also a macramé clothing designer, always hoping that his unique talent would one day be discovered. He showcased his creativity and devotion through the many beautiful pieces he designed and created. He loved going to the beach and was an avid body board surfer. He also loved traveling, especially to New Hampshire, Florida and Brazil. Ronaldo cherished his relationships with friends and family and was known for the love and warmth he shared with those around him and held strong spiritual beliefs. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his husband Kevin, Ronaldo is survived by his siblings Sonia Regina Manoel, Solange Manoel Soares, Abilio Manoel Son, Maria Salete Manoel, Ronaldo Manoel, Eraldo Manoel, Rosiane Manoel and was preceded in death by Ademir de Oliveira Manoel and Albani Manoel. He also leaves behind many close family members and friends in both the United States and Brazil.

Visitation will be held at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park Street (Rt. 27), Stoughton, on Thursday September 17th from 9-11 AM, followed by a Funeral Service at 11 AM. Interment will be held at Melrose Cemetery in Brockton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ronaldo’s memory may be made to the Lewey Body Dementia Association at https://lbda.org/donate.
